Like the PrOphet, I too enjoy the occasional more mellow mood and in regard
to threatening flames remain un preturbed. Some members of the list don't
follow their own advice re: security and real hackers of any worth don't
make enflated claims of their abilities nor forewarn their intended victims
before they strike. During the many years I've enjoyed in cyber-space many
attempts have been made to take me off line, (one, ironically, because of my
anti-racist page!) the odd one temporarily succeeding in the earlier years,
but never for longer than a matter of hours. Fortunately if one has a degree
of intelligence and integrity one accumulates friendship, respect and (in my
case) the support and protection of other netizens, some of whom have been
on line since the beginning of ARPAnet and now hold positions of
considerable authority in security depatments and uphold the basic netizen
precepts of freely offering their services when needed.Flame wars invariably
burn themselves out, the sooner the better and allthough having most
foolishly allowed myself to become the victim of one on this list I hope it
merely serves to demonstrate the wisdom of retaining a sense of humour,
refusing to indulge in excessive personal abuse and persistance of speaking
ones truth despite attempts to irritate, threaten and falsely accuse one of
racism or suchlike. The follies of over active adolescent hormones and
patriotism eh?!
