He does not make a very big difference, though I as a German would
definately not prefer being ruled by conservatives any longer. But maybe
he would make a bigger difference if he actually belonged to the
Greens. 
In fact our chancellor is a neoliberal Social Democrat, they only have a
coalition with an 8% Green party...
