Following is an email message that I asked for after an initial phone call, describing a rare trove of historical materials that are seeking a new "home." Please respond directly to Steve Louie if you are interested in taking him up on this offer. Bob Weil

Bob,
Thanks for the return call earlier. To recap:
I'm seeking to arrange the donation of a collection of China Pictorial magazines
to an institution, organization or individual that can use them for on-going research. The donor would like to receive a letter of thanks for tax purposes. Interested parties can contact me directly by email.
Coverage in the collection is described by Y's and N's below. Each line represents that year's months in calendar order. Y means yes for that month's issue. Density is highest during GPCR years. Rare earlier years are much less dense but still have numbers sufficient for clear-cut comparisons of political focus and style.

Most issues are in excellent to near-mint condition, and many have their inserts intact. People who saw China Pictorial as it came out in the years described know this means calendars, posters, and
music scores. Many still have the original powdery patina the magazines had straight out of the box from China. The covers alone are a phenomenal view of a significant period in humanity's political development, and whether you read Chinese or not, the photographs are definitely worth a thousand words.
It would a pleasure to get these to someone who can make good use of these, and I trust that anywhere you post this would meet that description.
I'm assuming that a non-profit thank-you note is relatively easy to arrange. Parties unable to pick up the collection from the San Francisco Bay Area would need to cover shipping costs.
Thanks for your help; it's much appreciated.
Steve Louie
