Clearly the bill is giving more power to trademark holders than they
already
have with existing guidelines concerning the registration of domain names.
Is it fair that someone in another country who doesn't even know who George
Bush Jr. is, to have something that sounds like gbush.com taken away simply
because it is a well-known name in the U.S.? I don't think so.
I agree totally, but will the US not experience difficulty passing this
bill to the other countrys involved? I seriously doubt that any company
would give up their domain, simply because there exists an American company
with their name as a registered trademark? This makes no sense to me
whatsoever, as a Norwegian citizen, I should think that this was the kind
of thing I payed taxes to avoid...:)
How are they planning to go through with this, and is there anything us
non-us subscribers can help in any way?
John.
