 Actually,Ben....this is not entirely true...ON
occasion,some Businesses Have indeed changed
their message...(here is not one of the best,it
was a looong nite & the only one that comes to
mind that everybody might recognise)...take etoys
for example....and it was in some small part due
to the threat of Ddos hanging over their virt
heads that helped...*not won*..but helped..them
to 'change their ways of thinking'....another?
WTo,Seattle...Ddos did indeed "inconvenience"
them to the point of influencing future
practices...there have been so many conflicting
reports on that..but I tend to watch the
results..
as for the increasing of their
security...yes...in some cases Ddos is used for
that intent to. One of the things I have been
looong complaining to sites is their deplorable
lack of security and the sensitive info stored on
some of them...available to anybody for the
taking.....recently,many sites are using Ddos on
themselves...and eachother...for the purpose of
finding those weaknesses...and fixing
them.....Ddos is valuable. while freedome of
speech is essential...so is security.
You could not have been more dead on the mark
with the activists not having any public reaction
unless showing some "muscle"...in todays jaded
society...people need a little flash & bang to
get motivated.... just putting up message pages
in place of theirs often only gets kneejerk
reactions...
Thanks to the "efforts" of the press....
Still...this is another means to an end we should
not totally abandon..these time tested treasures
all have their places in hactivism.... Keep em on
their toes.....

Naw..Pan....you are not naive about that....sadly
it is true....to a certain extent....I dislike
just that aspect of Ddos...the time down for ALL
people...innocents get entangled..YET...the time
down IS relatively short....A message was sent...

However...spraypainting a wall..and a web page
are 2 different animals altogether....unless one
uses sticky notes like third voice...and that is
very limiting...only other third voice users can
read it....unsatisfactory in most cases.... Let
someone devise a prog that can do the spray
painting job without the denials....and I will be
one of the first ones there to get it....
Optimistic? better than never being able to see
the sun...........
