Encryption (formerly the Echelon thread)

Encryption is a useful tool but lets not overkill it. I really don't
understand why people feel we need to 'encrypt everything'. As I said
before, this list is open, as are all usenet newgroups. All encryption
will do is thwart the occasional packet sniffer, who I really doubt is
interested in this mailing list because if he was, he'd subscribe to
it.  
Encryption is just not very practical in a public forum such as this.
