 [quite fascinating technique/technology, which uses
  a laser to take an elevation (wysiwyg) view, that is,
  as a person on the ground looking at a line of power-
  poles, and wires, going along the horizon/landscape.

*   Individual laser data points on wires, towers and ground are
clearly distinguished
